Program Overview

Learn. Grow. Thrive.

YMCA afterschool programs empower children to explore their interests, build new skills, and discover their potential in a safe and inspiring community.

Our Unique Approach

We partner closely with school districts to align our program with the school day, offer a balanced mix of academic support, enrichment, and play that kids look forward to, and keep families involved through regular communication and events. Behind it all is a team we invest in through robust staff development programs, because supported staff build stronger relationships with students and deliver a better program every day.

Staff That Go Above & Beyond

Our staff are the heart of our after school program. Highly qualified and deeply professional, our team reflects the cultural diversity of the communities we serve, and they bring warmth, respect, and care to every interaction with students. They also keep communication open and positive with parents and district staff, so everyone stays informed and connected.

At YMCA of the East Bay, we prioritize ongoing staff development. Every team member completes a structured onboarding process that includes First Aid, Pediatric CPR, and Child Abuse Prevention training. From there, staff take part in regular trainings on relationship building, behavior support, inclusion, and conflict resolution, so they are prepared to support every child, every day.
