After school

Knowledge, character development, guidance and encouragement to help children and teens learn and realize their potential is a core focus of what we do at Eden Area YMCA.

Child Learning Centers - Academic Enrichment

Our Monday-Friday program is a safe, secure and nurturing environment for your child. It addresses the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, language and creative needs of school age children and is licensed through the State of California. For more information click here.

Campers in Leadership Training

Campers in Leadership Training (CILT's) have the best of both worlds; the fun of going to summer camp, and the opportunity to be in training to be a counselor to the younger campers. CILT's spend part of their time in camp activities especially designed for teens, and part of their time teamed with an experienced counselor, learning firsthand the joys and responsibilities of being a YMCA Camp counselor in training. Get job experience and have fun doing it! Click here for more information.

Teen Project

Service Learning Projects

Our teen projects encourage and foster leadership development, project management techniques and academic enrichment. Student Learning Projects have included producing and creating murals, executing environmental clean-ups, creating tutoring programs and more. Contact edeninfo@ymcaeastbay.org for more information. Note, middle school and high school service hour requirements may be met through these projects.

Teen SenateYouth & Government

Our civic engagement and leadership development program for middle- and high-school students helps develop critical thinking competence, strengthens interpersonal communication skills, and raises awareness of and engagement in community issues and their possible solutions. For detailed information regarding the program contact edeninfo@ymcaeastbay.org. or click here.

Y-Zone Middle School Programs: 6-8 grades

The mission of the Y-Zone Program is to build strong, creative, and healthy students through positive academic, recreation, and enrichment services. We employ youth development best practices to harbor a safe environment where all participants can be themselves. Our overarching goal is to help students develop the skills they need to reach their full potentials. Our Y-Zone is currently located at Creekside Middle School in Castro Valley.

For more information on how to enroll, pick up a registration packet in the school's front office or email Kenny Altenburg at kaltenburg@ymcaeastbay.org.
