Give Through Your IRA

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a charitable gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to the YMCA. This type of gift, known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), is a smart way to support your community while reducing your taxable income.

A QCD counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) but is not subject to federal income tax, making it one of the most tax-efficient ways to give.

How It Works:

  1. Contact your IRA administrator to request a Qualified Charitable Distribution to the YMCA of the East Bay.
  2. Provide the following information:
    • Legal Name: YMCA of the East Bay
    • Address: Attn: Development Office, 2111 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA  94704
    • Tax ID (EIN): 94-1156635
  3. Ask your IRA administrator to include your name and contact information with the check so we can properly acknowledge your gift.

  • Join the Heritage Club

    The YMCA of the East Bay recognizes individuals who plan to leave a legacy by committing a portion or all of any part of their wills, trusts, retirement plans, and other planned gift. We will be able to thank you and recognize you as a member of the YMCA of the East Bay Heritage Club.

  • Join the Y365 Giving Circle

    Y365 Giving Circle is a special community of supporters who strengthen the Y’s mission every day of the year. Your monthly gift, made automatically through your credit card, provides dependable support that helps the YMCA of the East Bay continue to serve children, families, and communities—365 days a year.

    How It Works:

    1. Choose a monthly amount that fits your budget. This will be charged the 1st of each month.
    2. Your gift is securely charged to your credit card each month.
    3. You’ll receive annual giving statements and updates on how your generosity is changing lives.

    Every dollar you give helps ensure that the Y remains accessible and inclusive for all—today and throughout the year. To become a Y365 member, please make your gift online at (giving link) and select ‘Recurring Donation.’
