Healthy Kids Day 2017

Healthy Kids Day Banner

The more support, guidance and opportunities we give kids... the more amazing qualities they’ll get out. The more they get out, the more they can achieve growing up. Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain more weight and fall behind in studies. That’s why we provide kids with a healthy, caring environment of fun, learning and belonging to help them reach their fullest potential.

Come learn about our new tennis program! This program will be offered at our community centers AND at our Expanded Learning Programs on-campus at elementary schools. Funding was made possible from USTA. Staff and directors attended a training and they reported being inspired and motivated. Similar to our golf program, we are looking forward to offering another non-traditional program to urban youth who otherwise may not have the opportunity to experience the sport.  Ask us about signing your child up for tennis and how you can put more in and get more kid out!

On-going youth sports programs offered at EM Downer include youth golf (partnership with NCGA), tennis (partnership with USTA), Jr. Giants baseball, NFL Flag football, basketball, and indoor soccer. We are implementing Y-USA HEPA throughout our child care centers. Because we believe that healthy parents mean healthy kids, we also hold open gym for adults, including basketball and indoor soccer.

And that’s why we celebrate celebrate Healthy Kids Day®, our biggest day of the year devoted to kids and MORE!

Do More. Be More.
