Expanded Learning Program Group Leader - Oakland & Richmond

The YMCA Expanded Learning Program believes in elevating youth's voice and emotional intelligence so they flourish as future leaders. Every day after school ends, we provide safe spaces for youth to cultivate their social emotional growth, healthy relationships, and leadership skills.

Our ELP team aims to serve students K - 6th grade at six elementary schools and 7th-8th grade students at one middle school. Our target student populations are students who identify themselves as Latinx, African Americans, English Learners, students who have recently arrived in the country, students in foster care, students whose families are in transition, homeless students, and students who qualify for free or reduced price lunch.

We are looking for energetic and outgoing team players to join our Expanded Learning Program team in both Oakland and Richmond. Please specify which location you'd prefer in your application!

Your responsibilities as a Group Leader:
Supervise students in a structured after school program
Plan daily activities that are meaningful, culturally relevant, and engaging
for all students
Lead activities that include academic support, STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering, Math) learning, physical activities, sports, and performing arts.

Minimum Qualifications:
Be at least 18 years of age
Have 48 college units or completion of the Instructional Aid (IA) Exam (Information on how to complete the IA Exam can be provided upon request)
Pass DOJ/FBI criminal background check
Have CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:
Be able to speak Spanish
Have at least 1 year experience working with youth in a similar environment
General knowledge of core elementary subjects - English, Math, Science, Social Science
Have classroom and behavioral management skills
Have knowledge of basic computer skills & functions (Zoom, Google Drive, etc.)

What We Offer:
Pay Rate: $15.75 - $16.75 per hour
Total Work Hours: Around 23 hrs/week
