Fitness Coach

The Albany YMCA is seeking a FITNESS COACH!

The Albany YMCA is a neighborhood leader in providing programs that improve our communities’ health & well being. With an approach centered on balance, the Y brings families closer together, encourages good health and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. Our youth programs provide a nurturing environment for children and offer positive, fun activities that build athletic, social and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities for this position:
Build healthy relationships and positive experiences through exercise. Help members feel welcome and supported as they participate in all the activities and programs. Instruct members on use of equipment through coaching sessions, assist with member's questions and concerns, and provide excellent member service. In addition, Fitness Coach’s responsibilities include keeping the locker room, fitness center and equipment clean and neat.

Preferred Qualifications:
Personal Training certification or comparable understanding of strength training principles, and overall fitness and cardio conditioning principles. Applicant should be mature, responsible and possess excellent people skills. Applicant should be outgoing with the ability to interact, engage and assist people with a wide variety of ages, personalities, and physical abilities. Must be available to work early mornings and some evenings and weekends. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
