Events
Below are some upcoming events taking place at the YMCA of the East Bay.
Event Date(s): Friday, Feb 5 - Wednesday, Mar 10
The YMCA of the East Bay has served thousands of children and adults over more than 130 years, providing youth development, recreation, camping, childcare and wellness programs. Central to the YMCA mission is ensuring that these programs are available to everyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay. Philanthropic support from our donors is essential to fulfilling that promise.
Join the Annual Partners Campaign today and support:
-Week-long overnight camping experiences for kids 7-18 at Camp Loma Mar and Camp Ravencliff during the summer.
-Life skills development programs, including teen pregnancy and drug alcohol use prevention.
-Vocational preparation and academic programs for at-risk teens.
-Community wellness initiatives, including a focus on obesity in the Bay Area.
Become a sponsor of the YMCA. Every little bit helps, especially in these tough economic times. For just $100 two children can participate in youth sports. For $300 a child can attend after-school programming for six months, allowing parents an opportunity to have a safe place for their children to go and thrive. And for $1,000, one youth can participate in our special Youth & Government program, which brings kids to Sacramento and provides insight into the governing process.
Join us today and support your community with a gift to the YMCA. Please contact the Philanthropy office at 510-451-8039 x141, or send in your contribution today:

The Pepsi Refresh program accepted ideas from around the world and our Urban Services branch was chosen to present theirs! Now all you have to do is go and vote for us: http://www.refresheverything.com/YMCAGangIntervention.
So what's the program? The YMCA's Gang Intervention program brings underserved kids from East Oakland who are at risk for, or are already in gangs, and gives them a broader view of the world. Kids learn their shared Latino heritage through film and group study. Eventually, members of different gangs come to learn how much they have in common and that they are stronger if they struggle together. The YMCA opens the doors for these kids to then take on common problems in their community. This year, they decided to open a Monday morning breakfast spot in East Oakland for day laborers. The kids believed that everyone should start the week off with a hot meal, and so now provide one to hundreds of men waiting for work.
Please join us in supporting this important program!
