Mission, Values, and Methods
|
The YMCA mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that promote a healthy spirit, mind, and body--for all. For over 150 years the world-wide YMCA has provided innovative, growing, and high-quality programs that change lives.
The YMCA’s true ‘product’ is membership – a sense of belonging and shared commitment to a community and a purpose. Each YMCA staff person involves their program participants as co-owners and co-producers of the program. The YMCA accomplishes its mission not by providing services to people, by involvement with people.
We aim high. We achieve our goals through these methods:
· we always model the YMCA’s four core values : honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility,
· we develop quality, innovative programs,
· we foster relationships with and among members,
· we actively engage our members as volunteers, supporters, and co-owners of the YMCA.
