Majestic forests. Sunny days. Star-filled nights. Trails leading to amazing adventures, one after another. Welcome to camp, where kids thrive in a safe, caring, supportive community and learning is by experience. Lessons learned here last well beyond the final campfire and tearful goodbyes — they help shape young lives and inspire new goals and dreams.
At YMCA overnight camps, kids and teens discover not just the wonders of the outdoors, but the joy of exploring their unique personalities, talents and interests. Campers learn the power of sharing their skills and strengths to benefit their cabin groups and the camp community. At camp, kids and teens often find their best friend, because at camp they can truly be themselves and find others who like them for just who they are.
With more than 75 years of experience each, Camps Ravencliff and Loma Mar make summer camp an amazing experience for all ages, whether your child is spending the night away from home for the first time or your teen is building leadership skills year after year. Both camps will provide a life changing experience for your child. Our goal is to have every child leave camp more confident, with new friends, and adventures they typically might not experience. We focus a lot on the individual campers, so that we can provide them with an experience that will help them grow.
Located in Southern Humboldt County, Camp Ravencliff is the more rustic of our camps, campers are housed in traditional cabins without electricity, we swim and canoe in the Eel River, and our programs really focus on thinking outside of the box by putting creative spins on traditional activities. Round-trip transportation is provided at no charge from Richmond and Santa Rosa.
Camp Loma Mar offers a few more creature comforts, as well as a swimming pool, climbing wall and zip line. Its also a little closer to the Bay Area, located in the Pescadero Valley. Transportation is available from Richmond and Oakland at a modest charge, or parents can bring their camper to camp and get a little taste of summer camp themselves.
At Camp Arroyo, classmates come together in the outdoor classroom to learn hands on about science, the environment, and most importantly a little more about themselves.
