“Working on the Annual Partners Campaign brought us all together around something we believe in. It made me realize how much I love the YMCA.”
Marjy Kaplan, Oakland

It takes a dynamic, collaborative network of community partners, volunteers and donors to achieve our mission of nurturing the spirits, minds and bodies of the people who live in the communities served by the YMCA of the East Bay.

Since 1879 the YMCA has been part of the lives of communities, families and individuals, always striving to deliver programs and services that meet their needs. We provide essential programs and services that meet the most critical needs of children, teens, adults, seniors and families.

The YMCA of the East Bay reflects the collective visions and desires of our communities. We operate on a foundation of mutual commitments and shared beliefs.
Your support is one indication of our success. Your support allows us to continue to meet the growing, changing needs of the greater East Bay Area. Here’s how you can help:

  • Join: Membership can be your first expression of support for our mission.
  • Volunteer:  Our branches and camps rely in large part on the diverse talents and skills of the people who serve on our Branch Boards of Managers, campaign in our Annual Partners Campaign, work with youth and teens and on special events, or consult on wellness or social development projects.
  • Donate: Donations to our Annual Partners Campaign, a major gift, or a pledge to be paid at a future date are critical to the Y’s success. All of these gifts are tax-deductible and can be made through monthly or one-time credit or debit card payments, checks or cash.
  • Matching Gifts: Many companies match—or even double or triple—their employees’ gifts to qualified not-for-profit organizations like ours. Please ask your employer about maximizing your contribution.
  • Bequests, Securities or Real Estate: It is easy to include a tax-deductible donation to the YMCA of the East Bay in your trust or estate. You also can transfer appreciated securities or real estate as charitable contributions, receiving tax deductions for the appreciated value of the asset.

In 2007, 5% of our income came from contributions. Our vision is to expand contributed income to 15% of our operating budget in the projected future.

“I never fail to be deeply moved by the generosity of others.”
Ginni Ring, director, Philanthropy Advancement
