At the Y many youth learn about becoming and staying active. The healthy habits they develop are carried with them throughout their lives. Whether it’s the confidence that comes from learning to swim or the ability to create positive relationships, participating in the activities at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out.
With our Teen Zones and drop in centers —there’s a lot more than sports at the Y. Ranging from arts to robotics programming, the Y gives kids the chance to exert energy, try new things, make new friends … and be kids! Programs vary by branch.

Youth Sports Programs
Make new friends, be active and learn to love a sport at the Y. Clinics are a great way to introduce your child to a new sport or improve on knowledge and skills. Our coaches use positive support and encourage character values while keeping kids active. Programs vary by branch and may include: baseball, basketball, dance and martial arts.

Youth Swim Lessons
Swimming is a life skill as well as great exercise and a challenging sport. Ys offer swim lessons (for all ages), family swim and many kinds of adaptive swim programs for kids with special needs, so we can all safely enjoy the pleasures of an aquatic environment.

Youth Swim Clubs & Sports Leagues
Our swim clubs are based out of the Downtown Oakland and Hilltop branches. Dive into our Porpoise Swim Club (6-16 years)! Also, check out our sports leagues, including basketball, indoor soccer and tee-ball.
