About · Hilltop Family YMCA

The Hilltop Family YMCA is a branch of the West Contra Costa Region of the YMCA of the East Bay.  The West Contra Costa YMCA has been serving the greater Richmond community since 1918. We started out as the Richmond YMCA and were part of the Berkeley YMCA. We gained our independence in 1931 and took the name West Contra Costa YMCA. In 1990, we merged with the YMCA of Alameda County to form the YMCA of the East Bay in order to complete the Hilltop Family YMCA.

In 1984, Chevron Land and Development gave a gift of land to the West Contra Costa YMCA to be used to build a community health and wellness facility.  In order to complete the project, the West Contra Costa YMCA merged with the YMCA of Alameda County. In 1993, Hilltop Family YMCA opened it doors to the community which includes the cities of Richmond, San Pablo, Pinole, El Cerrito and Hercules.

The Hilltop Family YMCA also operates the Pinole Swim Center and the MonTaraBay Recreation Center.
